India has just completed capturing data for its Unique Identification project, also known as Aadhar. This project is the largest known biometrics endeavor in the world, containing biometric data for over half a billion (yes, with a B) of the country's residents. This project will make it possible for people with no official, state-issued ID to do things like open a bank account, get a loan, or get a driver's license.
